How Fleetmaxx Whitstable raced to victory in our Shell Fuel Card challenge
Whitstable wins the Shell Fuel Card challenge by Sue Florence, Director, Fleetmaxx Solutions
At Fleetmaxx Solutions, we love a little friendly competition, especially when it gives us the chance to celebrate the brilliant people behind our customer service.
Our teams are always going the extra mile to help new customers reduce their fuel, AdBlue® and wider fleet costs. However, opening an account is only the starting line. The real work comes from building long-term relationships and making sure every customer receives the service, savings and security their account is designed to provide.
We recently held a competition between our offices centred around our Shell Fuel Card offering. I am delighted to say that the Fleetmaxx team in Whitstable put their foot down, powered ahead of the pack and finished right at the top of the podium!
A team effort from start to finish
Winning the competition was not simply about numbers. It reflected the team’s commitment to understanding each customer’s fleet, recommending the right solution and providing support long after the account has been opened.
Our customers are never treated like account numbers. Whether the team is helping someone find more convenient filling locations, reviewing fuel costs, discussing AdBlue® requirements or explaining the security controls available, they are always ready to help.
That dedication helped Whitstable take the chequered flag, and their prize was a well-earned team afternoon out.
Taking the competition to the track
The team chose to use their prize for an afternoon of team bonding and go-karting at Buckmore Park in Chatham.
This was particularly fitting because Buckmore Park describes itself as “The Driving Seat of Legends”. The circuit has been part of British karting since 1963 and has helped develop some of the biggest names in motorsport, including Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Lando Norris and Ollie Bearman.
No pressure on the Whitstable team, then!
Buckmore Park has an incredible connection with Formula One. During the 1990s, the circuit hosted national championship racing and helped nurture future world champions Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. Hamilton raced there at just 11 years old during the 1996 Champions of the Future series, finishing the season as a champion before going on to achieve rather a lot more behind the wheel! You can read more about the circuit’s fascinating heritage on the Buckmore Park history page.
As this was a Shell incentive, a trip to a circuit with such a strong connection to Lewis Hamilton felt like the perfect victory lap.
A chance to refuel and have some fun
Team events like this are important. They give everyone a chance to switch off, enjoy themselves and strengthen the relationships that help them work so well together.
I suspect the competitive spirit did not disappear once the helmets went on! There may have been a few ambitious overtakes, some questionable racing lines and plenty of discussion afterwards about who was carrying too much fuel.
Thankfully, nobody needed a pit stop for AdBlue®.
On a serious note, I am incredibly proud of what the Whitstable team has achieved. Their success came from working together, looking after customers properly and maintaining the high standards we expect across Fleetmaxx Solutions.
Congratulations to the whole team on a fantastic result. You thoroughly deserved your place at the top of the podium and your afternoon at Buckmore Park.
Keep up the brilliant work, but remember: the other Fleetmaxx offices are already lining up on the starting grid for the next competition!
