Hi, Katy here! There is an exciting change coming to Shell West Bromwich on Dudley Street, with Shell Renewable Diesel (HVO100) becoming available to out Shell Card customers from today ( 24 August 2026).
For businesses exploring ways to reduce the lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions associated with their transport operations, this provides another fuel option within the Shell network.

What is changing at Shell West Bromwich?
From 24 August 2026, the conventional diesel currently available from Pump 9 in the HGV lane will be replaced by Shell Renewable Diesel (HVO100).
This means that HGV drivers using this particular lane will need to choose between refuelling with Shell Renewable Diesel or using one of the alternative conventional diesel pumps available on site.
Regular diesel will continue to be available at the location via other pumps.
What is Shell Renewable Diesel?
Shell Renewable Diesel is a renewable fuel commonly known as HVO100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil).
For suitable vehicles, it may help businesses reduce the lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions associated with fuel use compared with conventional diesel, while continuing to operate compatible diesel vehicles.
Shell Renewable Diesel can be used in many diesel vehicles approved by the manufacturer for EN15940 fuels. However, suitability varies by manufacturer, vehicle model and engine type.
Before using HVO100, customers should always consult their vehicle manufacturer, leasing company or maintenance provider to confirm compatibility.
Why might HVO100 be worth considering?
Reducing transport-related emissions can be challenging, particularly for businesses operating larger commercial vehicles where alternative technologies may not yet be practical for every operation.
- For compatible vehicles, Shell Renewable Diesel may help businesses:
- Reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions associated with fuel use
- Support broader sustainability ambitions and decarbonisation plans
- Continue operating compatible diesel vehicles already in service
- Explore a lower-carbon fuel option without immediately replacing vehicles
- Introduce renewable fuel into existing fleet operations
The suitability and benefits of Shell Renewable Diesel will depend on individual vehicle specifications, operating conditions and business requirements.
Still need conventional Shell diesel?
If your fleet is not approved for HVO100 or you prefer to continue using conventional diesel, diesel will remain available from other pumps at Shell West Bromwich.

Plan ahead when you need to refuel at Shell West Bromwich
I know that even a small change to a regular refuelling location can affect drivers, routes and day-to-day fleet planning.
If your vehicles regularly use Pump 9 in the HGV lane at Shell West Bromwich, please make sure that your drivers know about the changes.
Now may also be a good opportunity to determine whether Shell Renewable Diesel is suitable for your fleet or whether drivers should continue using the alternative diesel pumps available on site.

Lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions are associated with the production and use of a fuel, including emissions from feedstock production and collection, processing, storage, transport, distribution and combustion. Actual emissions reductions may vary depending on feedstock, supply chain, vehicle type and comparator fuel. Shell Renewable Diesel should only be used in vehicles approved by the manufacturer for EN15940 fuels
