Steve Hale joins the City’s exclusive flock!

We are incredibly proud to congratulate our Transport Consultancy Partner, Steve Hale, on receiving the Freedom of the City of London.
Steve received this prestigious honour during a special ceremony at the historic Guildhall, in the heart of the City of London. It is a wonderful achievement and thoroughly deserved recognition for someone who has dedicated so much of his career to supporting the transport industry.
The Freedom of the City of London is one of the City’s oldest surviving traditions, dating back hundreds of years. Today, it recognises individuals who have made a valued contribution to their profession, community or public life.
Steve joins an impressive list of Freemen that has included Sir Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher, Ian Wright and Harry Kane. We always knew that Steve was in a league of his own, but that really is some company to keep!
Speaking about the honour, Steve said:
“I am deeply honoured and humbled to have been awarded the Freedom of the City of London at the historic Guildhall.
“This is a tradition that dates back many centuries and represents a remarkable connection to the history, heritage and continuing importance of one of the world’s great cities.
“My sincere thanks to everyone who has supported, encouraged and worked alongside me throughout my career. This recognition reflects not only personal achievement, but also the collective efforts, friendships and opportunities that have helped shape my journey.
“It was a privilege to receive the award at Guildhall and to be part of a ceremony that celebrates the enduring traditions of the City of London.”

Freemen are traditionally associated with the historic right to drive sheep across London Bridge without paying a toll. Although it is now a ceremonial tradition, we hope Steve gets the opportunity to put his new status to good use. We can already picture him leading his flock across the bridge, although managing the paperwork and keeping everyone compliant might be more difficult than expected!
