FORS launches new emissions calculator to help fleets decarbonise
As a proud FORS Associate company, Fleetmaxx Solutions is thrilled to see the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) introduce a free emissions calculator—a powerful tool designed to support fleet operators in understanding and reducing their well-to-wheel (WTW) CO2 emissions.
Developed in collaboration with Transport for London (TfL) and the Zemo Partnership, this innovative tool uses fleet-specific data—such as vehicle types, fuel types, fleet size, and mileage—to calculate emissions estimates. The calculator aligns with FORS Standard requirements, offering crucial insights for operators working towards Silver S2 accreditation and Gold G3 accreditation, which involve performance data reporting and decarbonisation strategies, respectively.
Key features of the FORS emissions calculator
The new tool is not just about compliance; it’s about driving meaningful change:
- Enhanced Accuracy: Operators can input detailed fleet data, including second fuel types for dual-fuel vehicles like plug-in hybrids.
- Renewable Fuels Integration: The calculator accounts for biodiesel, renewable diesel, biomethane (compressed or liquefied), and renewable hydrogen through the Renewable Fuels Assurance Scheme.
- Comprehensive Emissions Reporting: The platform generates data on tailpipe emissions, particulates, and full WTW emissions. This helps operators comply with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol for Scope 1, 2, or 3 emissions reporting.
- Progress Tracking: By offering clear and comparable data, the tool enables operators to track their progress and stay on course towards net-zero targets.
