Your Shell EV card just opened the door to more charging choice
Source EV joins the Shell Card roaming network announcement by Kyle Davey, EV Specialist at Fleetmaxx Solutions, Ipswich
When I speak to businesses about moving to electric vehicles, one question regularly comes up: “Where can our drivers charge when they are out on the road?”
It is a practical question. Your drivers need charging options that fit around their working day, whether they are visiting customers, travelling between jobs or heading back to base.
That is why I am pleased to share some good news: Source EV’s ultra-rapid charging hubs are now accessible through the Shell Card roaming network.
This gives fleet drivers even more choice when planning where to stop and charge.
More than 70,000 public charge points across the UK
Fleet drivers can now use their existing EV-enabled Shell Card to access Source chargers, alongside more than 70,000 public charge points across the UK available through the Shell Card roaming network.
For businesses, that growing choice matters. Having more charging locations to consider can make it easier to plan journeys around customer appointments, deliveries and the everyday demands of running a fleet.
The addition of Source EV brings further ultra-rapid charging options into that network, helping drivers find suitable places to charge while they are away from their usual base.
Source addition is good news for existing cardholders
If your drivers already use a Shell Recharge, Shell Hybrid or Shell CRT EV card, this is a useful update to share with them.
Source EV’s inclusion means they can access its chargers using their existing EV-enabled Shell Card through the roaming network.
My advice is to make checking charging locations part of your journey planning. A suitable stop needs to work for the vehicle, the route and the time available, so knowing your options before setting off makes a difference.
Helping businesses move to electric with confidence
Moving to electric vehicles involves more than choosing a car or van. You also need to consider how your drivers will keep those vehicles charged throughout the working week.
Some businesses will use a combination of home, workplace and public charging. Others will rely more heavily on charging while their drivers are travelling.
For me, the starting point is understanding how your vehicles are used. Where do they travel? Where do they park overnight? When could drivers realistically stop to charge?
Those conversations help us recommend charging arrangements that suit your business. The expanding Shell Card roaming network gives us more options to discuss with customers making that transition.
